About the Program
The summer
instrumental music program is for students in grades
six (6) through nine (9) as of September 2011. The program is
designed to provide a chance to start or continue
instrumental music lessons and to help minimize the
regression of technique and playing ability that can
occur over the summer months when practice is not
adhered to.
Students will
be scheduled for
60-minute music
lessons in small
groups (divided
by instrument
group) AND
60-minute
lessons in a
full band
setting,
depending on
their experience
level. Lessons
will be
scheduled
Monday through
Friday.
There will be NO
make-up lessons.
Students will be
scheduled for
all five days
per week, for
both weeks
with optional
recreational
activities on
Fridays.
Students must
attend as many
lessons as
possible.
Lessons will
be aimed toward
technique
development,
scales,
increasing range
and endurance,
and ensemble
playing. The
program will
provide method
books and band
music, but
the student
must supply
instrument
accessories such
as reeds and
valve oil.
Note:
The summer instrumental music
program will conclude with a FREE concert for the
public at 10:00 a.m. on the last Friday of the camp.
Registration is
currently
CLOSED.
